Welcome,
The MISS UTOPIA Organization is an organization that concentrates on the established MISSION: “To Champion the Quality of life for ALL HIV (+) positive and AIDS survivors.
As a licensed board certified Nurse, I discovered my passion for preserving and improving life through the practice of Nursing. As a seasoned Nurse, I have been introduced to many disease processes. However, only one disease, HIV/AIDS, really made an impression on me as a Nurse.
Years ago, I watched the movie “Philadelphia” about a gay man and his unrelenting struggle with AIDS and the deplorable social stigma that all HIV positive and AIDS survivors face on a daily basis. This movie made me realize that HIV/AIDS survivors die two deaths, one is social and one is physical. Social death preceding the actual physical death inspired me to become involved for survivors' benefits. I began to express my compassion for survivors by volunteering at an AIDS shelter in my community in Mississippi.
Later in November 2007 one of my BEST friends confided in me that he was in fact HIV positive. I immediately let him know that I loved him and accepted him no matter what and I became his Private Duty Nurse. On June 22, 2008, he succumbed to AIDS at the young age of 27.
Due to this experience I became even more eager to make a difference by joining the fight against HIV/AIDS and increasing public HIV/AIDS awareness. I committed myself to achieving excellence as a champion of the HIV/AIDS survivor.
My foundational belief is that all human life is of sacred value and should be preserved with dignity. I believe that preserving dignity, nurturing the spirit, celebrating individuality, enabling freedom of choice, encouraging independence, and involving family and friends are excellent principles of championing the quality of life.
It is with great passion, joy in service, stewardship, respect and trust that I have founded MISS UTOPIA for the greater good of humanity. In all of my concerted efforts along with my mission, I want all HIV positive and AIDS survivors to embrace my philosophy that the “Power of Life is stronger than the grip of death”.
I offer sincere congratulations to the next winner of MISS UTOPIA.
Again, my sincere goal is to grow MISS UTOPIA while simultaneously increasing HIV and AIDS awareness nationwide across the healthcare continuum.
Sincerely,
Mr. Carlos Davis, Founder/Chief Executive Officer
